When I'm looking for a coffeeshop to frequent, I want several basic things: 1) Locally roasted coffee that's freaking delicious, 2) Staff that are friendly, professional, and personable, and 3) A location and atmosphere that is comfortable, visually interesting, and is the furthest thing from pretentious. Finding this combo isn't easy in the world of coffee shops, and I typically have to flex in at least one of these categories. But, at Meshuggah, I get all three, PLUS a selection of food and other beverages that has yet to disappoint. Honestly, this place is the hub of any trip I take to The Loop, whether that's to visit Vintage Vinyl or just walk around. I love coming here, and always welcome the opportunity. My only complaint about the shop isn't really a complaint at all. They close around 2pm, meaning that if I'm down in The Loop for a show at Delmar or the Pageant, I can only drive by the closed shop and longingly wish I could get a late night cup of that goodness. Ah, well. I'll make sure to go in the morning instead, and I'll likely buy some of their avocado toast for the lady I love while I'm at it. She's nuts about it, and for good reason. My fave coffee shop in St. Louis, and that couch upstairs, with the ledge overlooking the kitchen downstairs? If I walk in and you walk in and no one is already there, let's at least share that space, okay? It's kind of magic in an already great community gathering place that all the more people should check out.

Cute and delicious! I sometimes forget about this hidden gem of a cafe but when I do go I always enjoy my time there. Today I'm enjoying their iced lavender oat milk latte. I love the plants in the window, the window seating, the eclectic decorations, and fun menu boards. They have a plethora of options, too! The staff was helpful and quick. Excited to take a book here and read in the window sometime :)

Cute place. They did have decaf which I always appreciate. They modified the flavoring well (1/2 the sweetness) and were quick with the delivery. The price was reasonable.

Great place to get a bagel eggwitch. The place is small but cozy, and there is a sense that the people there have a lot of regulars. Service was quick and the the food delicious. My only negative was my eggwitch was a bit greasy.

One of the better cafes with delicious food options! They're known for their bagel sandwiches and it did not disappoint. They have an expansive drink menu and they have smoothie specials as well. It's right on the loop and it's a great little respite if you're strolling the area.

We wanted a special breakfast and, by golly, we got it! Meshuggah Cafe is cute as all get out, with fabulous art for sale on the walls. Oh, and the food is great, too! I loved the vibe. There were a lot of students with laptops, which makes sense given the cafe's proximity to Washington University. The staff taking our order and delivering our food... all very nice and cool. I apologize, I don't recall what we ordered, but I can attest both of our bagels were fantastic. I'll state with confidence - no matter what you order, you will love it! And the Ube colored smoothie, not on the menu, must have been a special. I'm here to tell you it was special. I remember it and it was GOOD! If you're in the area and looking for a breakfast spot, this is it!

Met some friends here for breakfast because of the vegan and gluten free options. Everyone loved their meal. We did not have to wait for a table. 420fest was setting up on Delmar so we had to walk to get here but it wasn't bad. Free parking lot down the road. My son had French toast which was like bagel french toast dipping sticks. Pretty fun! Cool vibe with local artwork for sale and some games available to play. Service was great. They had a recycle bin which I love to see. Seemed like a lot of their stuff was compostable so maybe they compost too, not sure. Would love to see more vegan options added, but the ones they have are well marked on the menu. Would be a good spot for lunch too as it's really a bagel sandwich shop. Definitely recommend and will be back! Follow me on IG @eatveganwithjoan

Cute little place with tasty bites and yummy coffee! Got a toasted, everything bagel sammy, with eggs, turkey, spinach, and mozzarella. It was hot, crunchy and soft at the same time, full of flavor, the the texture was on point. Paired with an iced Thai coffee (coffee & condensed milk). We also got a Turkey Club (not pictured, sorry!) and iced tea. Our total was around $30 for 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches. The service was pretty quick, staff was friendly and helpful, the place felt cozy, and the walls were adorned with local artists paintings for sale. I will be back to try another menu item and coffee!
